October 25th, 2009 First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new members to the site. I hope you have lots of roleplaying adventures and make some new friends along the way. =D
Now to business. I have decided we need to have another activity check. For those of you who are new, an activity check is just our way of finding out which members are still participating in the game. All members are required to post. Please check the Bulletin Board.
Seasonal Updates
Year 4 Weather:
It's starting to cool off in the lands of CoTW. Bears are more active this time of the year, because they looking for those last few morsels before it is time for winter. The leaves on the trees are changing in beautiful arrays of color, and it's just nice to lay outside and feel the lukewarm air.
Prey:
Some of the larger species are starting to getting scarce, however, rabbits and the like are still in abundance.
Breeding: yes.
Birthing: negative.
Spring is in: January, May, and September
Summer is in: February, June, and October
Autumn is in: March, July, and November
Winter is in: April, August, and December

Sapphire sighed as he paws slowly sank down to the sand of the beach. Sea mist drifted, around her like it was inviting her to play. Sapphire looked around the vast ocean, and padded farther from the cliff she had just been climbing down.
She explored the shore letting the soft splash of the waves sooth. Yawning, she soon laid down and watch the waves as they danced across the horizon. Blinking her eyes, Sapphire fell into a deep sleep.
Sapphire panted as she ran faster and faster in search of her charge. This can't be happening, she thought, it just can't! Suddenly a roar sounded out to her left, and soon after it the cry of pain from no other than her charge. Horror filled Sapphire as she burst through the brush only to see a mountain lion holding a pup under it's sharp claws. Sapphire panted in fear as the monster turned to look at her and growled. Her whole body shaking, Sapphire's mind told her to run forget the pup, but her heart told to stay. Taking a deep breathe, Sapphire charged at the monster.
Sapphire was barely conscious when screams of horror echoed around her. Her seven month old body had not last long against the monster likely some of the adults had shown up and took care of it. Sighing, she trembled to her feet and padded closer to the others. Black spot danced around threating to overwhelm her, but she shook her head and moved on.
The adults were all standing in a circle were the pup had been laying. Sapphire started to move closer when an older she-wolf rounded on her and started screaming and raging. It was the mother of the pup, the Alphess.
Sapphire didn't understand anything that she was saying. Next thing she knew the Alphess yanked her up and threw her into the middle of the circle of adults. Right next to the dead male pup. Tears started running down Sapphire's maw as she looked up at the Alpha standing right in front of her. "You have killed my only son this day," the Alpha spoked calmly, but in his eyes hate, pain, and rage flared to life.
"Nooooooo!" Sapphire screamed out. Gasping, she tried to get her remember where she was. Her body was shaking and tears had dripped down her face just like that day so long ago. Trying to catch her breathe, Sapphire placed her paws over her maw and wait for her tears to stop.

A russet brute padded quickly and smoothly acrossed the sandy beach. He has spent alot of time around here lately, wasn't really sure why. Blue eyes scanned the landscape in search of any other wolves walking this place.
A dark form caught his eye and he stepped closer to it, finding it was actually a sleeping fea. But he didn't think it to be a peaceful sleep. He watched the feas face and drew the conclusion that she was indeed experiancing some sort of nightmare.
He jumped back when she suddenly woke up screaming. She was also crying. "Hey, hey missie." He said quietly. "I say why is a pretty lass like you so scared?"He asked in his accented speech.
He felt uncomfortable when feas cried, but he always tried to help if he could. "The names Reno. Do you need something?"

Sapphire tensed when she heard the male's voice. She carefully looked up at him. The climbed to her paws and turned to face him. "N-nothing," Sapphire's voiced cracked, "has me scared. I was just . . . having a bad dream." Her ice-blue eyes darked as she whispered the last part.
Sapphire looked up at Reno then sighing she looked out to at the waves. She watched them for a momment before glancing back to Reno. "My name's Sapphire. And unless you can get rid of nightmares,"or change my past, she thought silently, then I don't think you can help me, Sapphire stated calmly thinking about that day and how fresh it all still was in her mind.

"Well I kindof figured that out, lass. Generally wolves don't wake up screaming if they are having a pleasent dream, at least none I've ever met." Reno was unphased by her attempt, at least in his mind, to brush him off. He kept up his trademark crooked grin and strange sense of humor.
"Now wait a moment.." He said quietly, "No sorry I'm no magic wolfie who can wisk away bad things, I wish I were, can only imagine the things I could do with something like that." He sat down, trying to keep the atmosphere unstrained.
"Sapphire's a pretty name, no doubt because your eyes are that color." He sighed, "Well at least you have a good reason to be named what you are, can't really think of a good reason to be named Reno." He shrugged alittle, " Oh well, can't do nothing about it now."
He liked to talk about random and at times confusing subjects, shooting the breeze sort of thing. He was tring to get Sapphires mind off of the drwam that scared her so. If it was working, he didn't know. Underneath all of the clownish words he wondered what could have scared a fea like that so, he had never seen anything like it before.

Sapphire tilted her head listening to Reno ramble on. She wasn't sure how to respond, but tried anyways, "Yes, the reason for my name is because of my eyes. And I'm not sure why you where named Reno, but it is a nice name too, i think." Sapphire grinned at end realizing she was rambling as much as he had, and for the moment she forgot about her dream.
Suddenly, Sapphire heard a loud splash. She looked toward the sound out at the ocean only to see nothing there. "What was that?" she asked looking back at Reno.

The lanky male grinned back at her seeming to have reached his goal, "Thank-you." His blue eyes focused back to where Sapphire indicated hearing a noise. "Oh, fish probably. They seem to have a knack of flying into the air and then making a splash like that on the way down. Want to go look? I don't think any dangerous ones will be this far in the shallows. Just be careful anyway."
He stepped towards the water stopping next to Sapphire for a brief moment and flashed her one of his trademark crooked grins. "Come on." He decided to wait and see if she wanted to go. He didn't beleive in forcing others to do things they didn't want too.
