Welcome to the Wild

Freedom whispers, encouraging many a soul to live life to its fullest, even when tragedies strike. Wolves' howls echo through the air regularly, frequently, and their companions of separate species accompany them in their treks and rests.

Here, they thrive, in packs and as loners. Here, where those of the land are considered children of the wild, three packs reside, with many loners. Peace may be challenged, among themselves and hunters, but forever shall they thrive, forever shall their blood survive...

The brute smiled as the pup finally succumbed to her hunger, without a doubt it had a large control over decisions, of any living thing, especially animals that even some died to the lure of getting a feed. Alright, well I think I saw a rabbit hole somewhere around here, but anyway, the plan to catch these sneaky buggers, is if you want, scare them out of the hole and I’ll give chase and if you feel fit enough to join in, then do so. He thought the fae would want to despite her withering condition, she came across as the one who liked to take of herself, or so the brute thought.

Morrigan tilted her head. "Scare them? I'll try..." At least she could be of some help in the chase, but the pup had no idea what to do in order to scare off a rabbit or two. Wouldn't her scent only make them more likely to hide in their burrows? She puzzled over the question for a while, and then mustered up the courage to trot up to Seneca and ask. "...How do I scare them?" Her voice was quiet, so she didn't accidentally frighten off any prey that was in hearing range. Her instincts - ones born of her own experience, rather than those that she had had since birth - screamed at her to get away from the older wolf, to run far, far away and hide and make sure he could never find her. But his actions, more than her own control, stifled it enough that she didn't run away or flinch at his closeness to her.

If he had truly wanted to hurt her, or chase her away, he would have done so already. Seneca seemed to truly want to help her... or at least give her food.

At the hastened footfalls of the pup coming closer towards him, Seneca slowed in his gait, as the question was raised, his orbs lingered above his head for a moment in thought. Good question… well… actually I’m not too sure.. though they gotta come out eventually, or there could be some out already. Hunting’s a matter of luck sometimes, but don’t worry, we’ll get a feed by the end of the day

Making it sound more like a promise than anything, and hopefully he was right.

Morrigan nodded. "I hope they'll be out already." she remarked mournfully, suddenly aware once more of how hungry she was, and tired, and that she didn't want to have to chase after a hundred rabbits or wait for hours for them to emerge. She was exaggerating the effort, but only because her hunger had finally triumphed over her caution, and the idea of waiting too long to eat made her want to prance and whine like an obnoxiously needy pup.

Seneca was unlikely to give in to such a display anyways - after all, they were strangers, and he had agreed to leave right after he had secured some food for her. Maybe if she saw him hunting properly, she could do it by herself the next time she stumbled upon a likely place for a rabbit. Then she would have better hope of surviving the winter... If it was good to keep any hope at all for that.

Dont worry, if not, there's plenty more we could eat.

He slowed his trot so that the pup can keep pace with him, as they reached the forest, amber orbs glanced around the terrain, trying to catch any signs of movement, his paws rounded to lessen the sounds of their arrival.

About 5-10 minutes went by and the brute was starting to get impatient from his viewing spot. Maybe we should try somewhere else.. The brute spoke too soon as the rounded head tipped with 2 large audits poked out of the ground. A burrow the lupine's eyes missed. Stay here... or join if you want, if you're up for it. I'm going around once the rabbit leaves and block its way back to the burrow.

Doing just that, he waited another minute or 2 before the rabbit seemed less cautious of its surroundings and began to wander out. Unaware of its demise just lingering about the forest frindge. The brute rounded his path from the edge to its burrow, orbs never leaving the rabbit, able to make any sharp turns or moves if it was to escape. He stopped there as the rabbit seemed to have found some small food on the ground, the perfect time to lurk behind and surprise it, Seneca stopped for he waited to see what the pup wanted to do.

Morrigan hadn't spotted it either, and flinched in surprise as the rabbit's head appeared. "I... I'll help." she said, knowing she wouldn't be of much use, but perhaps she could harry it if she was fast enough, maybe keep it from getting away from Seneca. She tensed up as he blocked the burrow, golden eyes riveted on the rabbit that was innocently feeding on the sparse ground. That this was the moment to strike didn't escape her grasp, and she shot a glance at the older wolf, waiting to be given instruction and the permission to aid him - though she was too new to hunting rabbits to be all that much help. This would be a learning experience for her, if not for him.

Slowly, the brute stalked towards the rabbit, then watching the pup carefully, he nodded silently to the young. From here, if they were to speak it would disturb the rabbit, instead, he cocked his head to the side abruptly, repeating the gesture for the pup to first pounce the rabbit. So he would later give chase if she didn't get it first.

The pup's footsteps would after all be, quieter than those carrying a larger mass.

Morrigan tensed up as he indicated that she was to try first. A protest rose in her mind - she was weak, she wouldn't be able to keep it from running away - but she said nothing, and slowly stalked forward, making as little noise as possible. Here her small size came into play, and she was far lighter on her paws than Seneca, if only because she weighed less, rather than any innate grace.

Crouching, she kept as still and quiet as possible, and then pounced, unsure of how to do it properly and thus not really judging the distance - her paws grazed the rabbit as she landed, but confusion had set in - now what was she supposed to do - and the rabbit had shot off while she whined apologetically, trotting after it but clearly hoping Seneca would just go and do it himself.

For the time being, Seneca crouched behind the pup, in case the first attack was to fail, he would cover the ground in less than a second, but rabbits, being smaller would generally have more agility. He heard Morrigan’s whine but acted as though he didn’t for his main focus was getting the rabbit.
Being away from the pack lands many of times the brute hunted better without a team, though of course, he was never strong enough to bring down large game himself, but has learnt many tricks up his sleeves for hunting small rodents.

Continuing on his run, he drove the rabbit into a large figure 8 pattern, cutting the rabbit’s path if it was to move to the side. He kept doing so until the rabbit started to slow, it’s stamina beginning to fail it. Then, abruptly halting, he met the rabbit the rabbit cross roads and grabbed its neck firmly, shaking it to death before settling as grey enveloped its orbs.

Padding back to Morrigan, he now acknowledged her whining apology and dropped the rabbit before her. Smiling as his tongue lolled as he panted So … this my cue to leave, little one?

Morrigan watched with some awe as he effortlessly chased it down, weaving in and out until it was exhausted and easy to kill. She shook herself when he dropped the offering in front of her, shrinking slightly. She wanted to devour the rabbit, taste its blood and revel in the fact that she was eating something that would be filling for once - but she had to answer first.

"Yes... You're nice. You should leave, so nothing bad happens." she said hesitantly. It was nice to have company... but all too easy to imagine those around her dying, injured, starving or sick. Better to keep them away.

Nodding, the brute allowed her to have the space she so seemed wanted. He watched her for a few seconds, wanting her to come to his family's pack in which he knew she would be well looked after, but it was merely her choice and for now, she seemed to see alone, fit.

Nothing else he could do, he started to pad away You take care, pup, and enjoy. See you around.
With that he trotted off towards the forest, eager to find Skop.

Morrigan watched him leave, and wagged her tail once at his words, not wanting to say anything lest it suddenly bring misfortune on him. She was lonely, but not so lonely as to try and get him to stay, or go after him. Once Seneca had disappeared into the forest, she started to eat the rabbit, which was as good and filling as the sight and smell of it had promised, and, for the first time in a while, she felt full.

It was a good gift, one of hope for survival. She couldn't surpress a feeling of gratitude - she was glad she had met him, despite her instincts that screamed to ignore him, forget him, hope to never see him again. She couldn't do that, which was a change... And maybe one that was for the better.

((I believe so, yes. Thank you~))
